nein keine Angst, sie sind nicht ausgestorben - das wäre auch kaum möglich.
Vielmehr wurde soeben die Gattung Nothofagus revidiert. Phyllogenetische Untersuchungen haben zur Aufspaltung der Gattung Nothofagus geführt.

Neu sind es die Gattungen
Nothofagus 4 Arten südl.südamerika
Lophozonia 7 arten in Südamerika, Neuseeland, Australien
Fuscospora 6 Arten in Südamerika, Neuseeland, Australien
Trisyngyne 25 Arten in Neukaledonien, Papua Neuguinea, Indonesien


Unsere häufigere Nothofagus antartica behält ihren Namen.

Today GRIN integretad the new names in its database for the taxa they treat and retain the genus Nothofagus in its broader sense until they can better gauge the acceptance of this new taxonomy.
