Hallo Baumfreunde,
nachdem in den letzten Tagen hier manche Cupressus-Threads wiederaufgelebt sind, da ein offensichtlicher Spezialist auf die aktuelle Stellung von Cupressus glabra als Art und nicht als Varietät von Cupressus arizonica hinweist habe ich in meinen Beständen zwei Bäume ausgegraben.
Beide laufen bei mir bisher als Cupressus arizonica und ich frage mich, ob man sie nach den Bildern - schwierig genug - als Cupressus glabra einordnen kann.
Baum 1 - Standort Haute Provence, ca. 500 m Meereshöhe
Baum 2 - Standort St. Tropez
Was meinen die Spezialisten?

Yes, Baum 1 is a C.glabra. In English it is called Smooth (Bark) Arizona Cypress.
The cones on average are bigger than those of C.arizonica.
Second tree is likely also a glabra, but to be sure, it would be necessary to see the bark and a close-up of the cones and foliage like for tree #1.

In southern France almost all such cypresses are glabra. C.arizonica is to be found in few botanical gardens and in experimental stations of INRA.
